Epoxy Coating Liner for Motorcycle Gas Tanks

Since 2002 we have been epoxy lining motorcycle gas tanks.  We use a variety of materials and processes on all makes of motorcycle gas tanks, including steel, aluminum, carbon fiber, and fiberglass. Through our years of experience in lining tanks we have researched materials and developed processes that have enabled us to line new, used and previously lined gas tanks


The benefits of having your motorcycle gas tank lined are tremendous. For the latest in European motorcycles using plastic gas tanks, it protects the tank from absorbing the ethanol (E-10) found in U.S. gas. Ethanol is known to cause deformation of the gas tank including expansion and blistering.  And in the case of fiberglass and carbon fiber tanks the epoxy keeps the ethanol from breaking down the resins used in manufacturing by creating a barrier between the fuel and gas tank walls.

Steel gas tanks are the standard on vintage bikes. As new parts are becoming harder to find people have turned to used gas tanks. Rust is a common issue in steel tanks. As particles break loose and enter the fuel system they cause a variety of problems from rough idle to engine stalling Installing an epoxy liner eliminates such problems.
We work with many local shops, custom builders and restoration experts that recommend lining tanks to their customers to prevent fuel related problems. They have found that their bikes run better and stay tuned longer when their gas tanks are lined. If you would like to spend more time riding your bike and less time working on it then epoxy line your tank.

We documented our surface process by photographing it step by step. This was from a Ducati 900SS that was believed by the service department who sent it to us that it could not be saved. As you see it was a success and saved the customer from having to replace the tank with a new one. 











Cro Customs 2012 build took 1st place best of show at the July 2012 "Born Free" bike fest. Both gas tank and oil tank are one off hand made by Cro Customs. Ir was brought in to us for epoxy lining and leaked tested prior to painting







Here we have a Harely Fatboy gas tank that was sent to us by a local Los Angeles Dealer. This originally came in due to rust and the factory liner coming apart. In the process it was discovered that the rust had eaten away into the tank. This tank was able to be saved. As you see the factory liner and rust had been removed internally.

Here we have a Ducati Sport 1000 done in 2010 with a plastic gas tank custom painted that has been epoxy lined by us to ensure that tank does not expand which can cause paint to crack. And to also protect from blistering which is another problem with current plastic tanks






Here we have a NCR Millano with a carbon fiber gas tank. In some instnacees they are molded in to sections and bonded together. We epoxy lined this tank to also ensure that the bonds do not break apart



Here we have a custom Triumph bobber with many great one off custom machined pieces back in 2009. 



This BSA tank was sent to us from a dealer in Central California in January 2012 . Tank had been lined twice first with Kreem and failed. With great care so not to damage the existing paint over the chrome. We are able to clean and epoxy line this tank with great success.  


This is a 1975 Vespa 150 Scooter gas tank with 2 stroke oil tank. Brought into us on March 30th due to being in storage since 1977. The fuel tank was left with a fuel and oil mixture for the last 35 years. We removed 1/2 and inch of residue left in a tar form with no problems. As you see the original paint is still in tack  unharmed or undamaged. 


Currently we have this 1974 Laverda SFC in with only 50 of these produced that year. This is a fiberglass tank that had been lined but due to poor surface preparation which is very important. This began to see failure in the first two months back on the road. This is why we take extreme caution in surface perpetration. 


Many do not know but each Falcon bike has been epoxy lined by us prior to being painted. We take great pride in our craftsmanship with each tank. It gives us great pleasure and a huge smile when we see our work leave.

  1. I have plastic Acerbis fuel tank for honda bike. Can i coat it inside so it doesnt breathe the gas fumes to the outside and thus prevent any paint to stick to outside for any long perriod of time!
